Respite in Community Settings (RICS)
Even the best relationships need a little breathing room. Group Respite gives participants time out in the community with friends, while giving guardians a chance to recharge. Hours are drawn from the participant's yearly authorized respite hours and do not reduce or replace a primary caregiver's personal care hours.
-
Supervised independence in community settings
-
Emphasis on safety, consistency, and positive group dynamics
-
Unstructured time in supportive environments with peers
-
Goals are not required for this service
Community Engagement (CE)
Community Engagement is about getting out, trying new things, and building connections. Activities can include participant planned outings, recreation, classes, events, and volunteering, shaped around each participant's or a group of participants' shared interests and goals. These hours are covered by waiver funding, which is separate from respite and personal care. Participants who are not currently receiving respite, or who live independently or with Supported Living, may also be eligible.
